Unlock your creative potential with our comprehensive 6-week Cricut course, designed to take you from beginner to expert. Led by Annia Flores, an art major from VCU and a passionate designer, you'll dive into the world of Cricut crafting and learn to create stunning projects. Each week, you'll master new skills and techniques, culminating in the ability to create unique Christmas gifts for your loved ones.
Course Schedule:
Week 1: Introduction to Cricut and Vinyl Basics (11/8/24)
Objective: Familiarize students with the Cricut machine, tools, and basic vinyl projects.
Instruction: Overview of Cricut machine types, introduction to vinyl, tools for vinyl projects, and hands-on demo cutting and applying vinyl designs.
Week 2: Iron-On Vinyl Basics (11/15/24)
Objective: Teach students how to work with iron-on vinyl for fabric-based projects.
Instruction: Introduction to iron-on vinyl, cutting, weeding, and preparing iron-on vinyl, temperature and time settings for different fabrics, and hands-on demo creating a t-shirt with printable and puff vinyl.
Week 3: Sublimation Basics (11/22/24)
Objective: Introduce the basics of sublimation printing for long-lasting, vibrant designs.
Instruction: Explanation of sublimation, equipment needed, suitable substrates, and hands-on demo sublimating a small item like a mug.
Week 4: DTF and UV DTF Basics (12/6/24)
Objective: Explore Direct-to-Film (DTF) and UV DTF techniques for durable, detailed designs.
Instruction: Overview of DTF and UV DTF, equipment and supplies required, design tips, and hands-on demo printing and transferring DTF and UV DTF designs.
Week 5: Cricut Design Space and Sticker Making (12/13/24)
Objective: Teach students how to use Cricut Design Space and create custom stickers.
Instruction: Detailed walkthrough of Cricut Design Space, design tips for stickers, materials for sticker-making, and hands-on demo designing and applying stickers.
Week 6: Sublimation Continued & Cricut for Christmas Gifts (12/20/24)
Objective: Finalize sublimation skills and explore ideas for creating Cricut-based holiday gifts.
Instruction: Review sublimation techniques, gift ideas using Cricut, and hands-on demo designing and creating a holiday gift like a personalized ornament or oven mitt.
